The Intrigues on Pacquiao – Ranillo Affair

Posted in celebrities, opinions, people with tags , , , on November 20, 2009 by fabmanila

This image has been referenced from another blog(wont be mentioning the name), which was allegedly sent by Jinkee Pacquiao’s friend ( not gunna mention the name too).  Due to hot rumors circling around the boxing champs family and a speculated affair with Krista Ranillo, alot of people has turned their attention to the Filipino Boxing champs’ wife Jinkee Pacquiao from the intriguing cries.

Alot were curious of her sudden bursts of tears and searched comfort with her friend during the thanksgiving mass held after the fight. Krista on the other hand never deny nor confirm these allegiations and speculations being thrown by the media in prints, tv and as well as in cyberspace.

The blogosphere has all been wanting to hear the truth.

Manny Pacquiao’s supporters and political friends were also suggesting that Manny should neither loose the people’s respect towards him by another gold-digging starlet. Moreover, Jinkee’s friends were all in full force support to prevent anyone to meddle in what appears to be a strong relationship of the couple.

But the couple made an assurance that they were ok, and just like what Manny said,  there is actually no problem around them. Whether or not it is true, I hope that Krista Ranillo won’t lower her morality by stepping into the bandwagon of ladies who exploit their looks just to get under the security of money making relationships.

What Happened to Tunay na Lalake Blog?

Posted in blah blah, blogs, interest with tags , , on November 9, 2009 by fabmanila

I was just visiting some old favorite websites that I’ve bookmarked and surprisingly here is what I had read. It is indeed a shocker. It was a good blog. A great sample of a free mind. Whatever the reason behind this, I can only hope for the best.

excerpt from : http://www.techie.com.ph

TNL fans may be in for a bit of a shock. It seems that the Pinoy-favorite Tunay na Lalake blog has ended its reign as the manliest blog on the planet.

The latest, last, and only remaining post on the main page is an entry entitled Paalam, baby dated October 17, 2009. In typical guy fashion, TNL’s final farewell read, “It’s not you. It’s me.”

It’s a sad, sad day for the Filipino blogosphere.

Probinsyana is Back …

Posted in blah blah, opinions with tags , on November 5, 2009 by fabmanila

After like so many days of not being able to write articles for my own blog, I realized that this might be the right time to write again. My thoughts were all uncertain for the past months and I was not really interested in writing anything despite all the things that had happened around me since I last blogged. Being out of the office opened a lot of opportunity and rooms for great improvement.

Many things had happened for the past several months, including that of the tragedies that came in the Philippines due to several super typhoons. Great example is the typhoon “Ketsana” ( Ondoy). Our community was severely affected, creating great damages to those places unexpected from the destruction of flash floods, and landslides. The flood came in too quickly for us to save all of our things. Most were submerged in floods. Some people was left stunned and in disbelief as they see their properties being swept away by the flood.

After that, there is another typhoon that drastically hit the Northern Region of the Philippines. Which by the way included my own province. It was quite devastating because alot of lives were sacrificed due to tremendous flooding and landslides. A lot of people are blaming this tragic events to climate change. Some are left to blame the government who keeps on giving approval to those rich businessmen in corrupting even the natural resources that the Filipinos were left to keep. They keep on building subdivisions and real state properties in the mountain areas, when in fact trees should be nurtured in these places.

The government is blaming the illegal settlers who allegedly been making distractions for the water shed areas, when the government should have been doing something before the tragedy even happened. Farms has been wiped out literally leaving alot of the farming community homeless and no source of income. The question about the garbage disposal has also occurred to be essentially paramount to the actions of the community leaders.

Then come, the voter’s registration which has proven once again the bahala na attitude of the Filipinos. Very disappointing indeed that our fellas are always late in doin their share for this country. But what can we do?

Carlo J. Caparas is Not Qualified to be National Artist Online Petition

Posted in letters, opinions, people with tags , , , on August 21, 2009 by fabmanila

Please read through the excerpt..

To: My Fellow Filipinos and Artists

Many of us in the artists community were shocked and appalled that Carlo J. Caparas was named National Artist for Visual Arts and Film on July 2009. Although we recognize the work and accomplishments of Caparas within the comic book industry as well as television and film, we strongly believe that his body of work does not live up to the tradition of excellence the title of National Artist entails.

It is appalling to us that someone who has made a living exploiting the lowest common denominator in films such as “The Cecilia Masagca Story: Antipolo Massacre (Jesus Save Us!) “, “The Untold Story: Vizconde Massacre 2 – God Have Mercy on Us “, “Lipa Arandia Massacre (Lord Deliver Us from Evil)”, and “The Marita Gonzaga Rape-Slay: In God We Trust! ” shall now be placed in the same league as Manuel Conde and Lino Brocka, the greatest filmmakers in the Philippines responsible for our greatest movies as “Ghengis Khan” and “Maynila: Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag” respectively.

However, if one is looking for an objective reason for this protest, it would be this:

It is clear that “Visual Arts” and “Film” are two different categories. Therefore, “Visual Arts” refer to Caparas’ work in comics. Caparas is a writer. He has never illustrated any of his comics stories, least of all his most popular ones. Panday and Pieta? They were illustrated by Steve Gan. Bakekang? It was illustrated by Mar Santana. Kroko? Illustrated by Hal Santiago. Totoy Bato? Illustrated by Tor Infante.

In the guidelines for selection of National Artist for Visual Artists, the category clearly covers:

“Visual Arts – painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation art, mixed media works, illustration, graphic arts, performance art and/or imaging;”

How can someone who is not an illustrator, therefore *NOT* a visual artist ever be named National Artist for Visual Arts? If Carlo should ever be given this title, the title should be shared with all the artists he collaborated with, for that is the nature of comics. It is a collaborative medium as Carlo himself points out many times during his talks.

If not, then this title should be removed, as it is not factually descriptive of who he is. In short, Carlo J. Caparas is NOT qualified to be National Artist. The guidelines unarguably points this fact out.

Our objection and resolve are strengthened by news that have recently come to light that Carlo J. Caparas did not go through the rigorous selection and assesment process of the National Artists voting board. Carlo J. Caparas is a SNAG, or “Singit National Artist ni Gloria”. It is through this Presidential insertion process that a person who is not qualified to be National Artist manages to be one.

As Philippine artists and concerned citizens who feel that our artistic legacy as a nation is compromised by these events, we strongly and vehemently put forward this protest.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
